I've read quite a bit in this new forum and find it facinating the point vs counterpoint debates as it relates to the audition process.

So, with everyone's cooperation, I would really love to hear about best practices as it relates to the audition process.

Not that an audition is ever perfect but let's say that you could design the perfect process and YOU were the person in the orchestra solely responsible for creating and setting the standard, how would you do so?

I believe our friend Cygnus was alluding to a roundtable discussion of this kind in one of the other threads so I can't take full credit for this idea.

So, again, best practices is the aim of this discussion and then perhaps after the thread has run its course, someone can compile the best practices in some type of format that would be useful to all.
