In my 5 years short years of playing piano I have asked many local players what
they think about trying to make piano playing a career . Almost all of them have told
me the same thing . Its either :

- " You have to be almost perfect at everything "
- " There’s not enough jobs "
- " It's so hard to make it with all the competition "

All of these type of comments sometimes make me wonder if I could ever be a professional pianist. I live in LA, am 15 and a bit frustrated.

So I am just wondering . What do you have to say. Is it nearly impossible to make it in the business ? What does it take ?

Thanks,

Avery

I know though that if you work hard long enough, you'll be successful. You might not end up the next Andre Watts, but you can be successful in music performance if you work long and hard at it. It's as simple as that. Hard work, consistency of practice habits, and a strong desire to become a better musician. That's just my 2 cents.
