Music from the Heart (or is it Music Of the Heart?...Meryl Streep in the hood

Another good one is Allegro Non Troppo. Animation to classical pieces with a sideshow of an orchestra filled with old ladies and a conductor bellowing in Italian...

The 1982 movie "Yes, Giorgio" with Pavarotti. He plays a tenor on tour in NY who loses his voice (surprise!) and hires a throat specialist to help, only to fall in love with her.

A very bad movie indeed but no doubt a classical theme. It's a good thing Pavarotti stuck to singing.

"Kolya" -- It's a really awesome foreign film, with the main character being a bachelor cellist. It's not really about classical music, but they work the lifestyle into the story line. Kolya is a little boy in the film (whom I later named my dog after... that's how much I liked it...)

oh, yeah...someone mentioned it, but the man with one red shoe is hilarious... I especially liked the hack job on the violin cadenza in sheherazade, and carrie fisher, supposed nso flutist, waving a bundy flute case at tom hanks in reagan airport...

also enjoyed the Cellist/conductor relationship portrayed in the money pit, also with tom hanks!

Not a classical music theme, but to be appreciated by flute players:

In the opening of "Red Dragon," Hannibal Lecter is in the audience when the supposed Baltimore Symphony is playing the Mendelssohn Midsummer Night's Dream Scherzo. The flute player gets lost and chows down on a couple of exposed passages, and we see Dr. Lecter's displeasure followed by various newspaper headlines: "Baltimore Symphony Flutist Missing;" "Body of Symphony Flutist Found," etc.
