Does anyone know of a good place to get some type of cabinet for storing a large amount of sheet music?...Something that will fit at least 11x17 size pages?

If you're interested in some really high-quality music storage furniture, try Katahdin Music Works in Maine. Their web site is here: http://www.katahdin-online.com/

The cabinets are really beautiful. Can't imagine any musician not wanting one.

Except those of us who can't afford them! Big Grin

I just use a couple of filing cabinets and a bookshelf.

I use these:

They work well, and are extremely inexpensive. I admit I would love to own the Katahdin ones - they are gorgeous.

thanks for the info!
I tried to use regular filing cabinets but couldn't fit my orchestra-sized music in them....are there standard filing cabinets for 11x17?

I just moved this past week and had to work with this same issue. I went to Ikea and they have some design-your-own shelving systems. The brand is Gorm - it's wood, but on the cheaper side. I just bought the side posts and then the number of shelves I wanted - it's pretty flexible in terms of how close you want your shelves to be. Then I lay the music flat so it doesn't get any folds. The shelves are big enough for those large orchestral parts.
