This flute position was posted on My Auditions in April, with a deadline of April 14 to get a cassette/cd in as a preliminary. They stated they would "choose a small number of finalists" to come to Mexico sometime in May to perform w/the orquesta, at which time they would choose the "winner" It is now May 13, and no communication from them. My e-mails have been answered with " you unfortunately have not been chosen..... " Then, yesterday, May 12 I see that a fresh, new listing appears indicating it was posted May 1. They still want tapes, but indicate that auditions will continue until a finalist is chosen. I'm fresh out of school(2 years)and do not understand. Sounds like they are starting over. Also the NEW posting doesn't say anything about finalists playing with the orquesta. Anyone know what gives?

I don't know, but I'm in the same boat as you. I sent a recording as well, and received the same response. I have heard from a few colleagues that the audition process is often less formal in Mexico than in the US.

I knew conditions would probably be laid back from talking to some friends, but I still don't understand why they have changed their posting date to may 1 from April 14. And does this mean that I should send another tape since it looks like they are seeking more candidates? Maybe I'll play better next time. Anyway, could you share some of the information about the "other conditions which can be rather difficult"?
You say the pros outweighed the cons. Could you be specific about some of the cons? 'preciate your time.
