Greetings Members,

Our classifieds section has officially launched. Members may post basic classifieds for free with optional premium services (featured ad, better placement, bold lettering and photos) available for a nominal fee.

You may view and post classifieds at http://www.myauditions.com/classifieds

We hope that it will be a valuable service to the MyAuditions community.

Thank you.

Will there be a cost to place an ad? If so, how much?

Can you provide some additional details on the categories available? I am most curious about the "Barter Services" category.

Hello Forrester,

Categories are flexible and subject to be updated or changed as per the feedback of the member community as we progress forward after launch.

The Barter Services has been changed to Travel Exchange. There are few sub-categories; Need Lodging, Offer Lodging, Need Ride, Offer Ride.

For example, let's say you live in Cincinnati and plan on taking an audition with the Minnesota Orchestra. Money's tight and you might be able to stretch out your dollars for one night's hotel stay. But, if you make it past the prelims and the finals are scheduled 2-3 days later, what do you do?

In addition, perhaps there is another attending the audition traveling by car and would like to fuel costs. Use the Need/Offer Ride categories for this.

You can post on the barter services section that you are in need of lodging for X number of days. Members in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area can post also post that they can provide you with a place to say for a few nights.

In exchange, perhaps they ask that you help with some house chores or want nothing in return except to help out a fellow musician.

In return, you make a friend and the next time that member is in Cincinnati taking an audition or traveling through, perhaps you would offer lodging as well.

That's the idea behind this and we may look to expand behind this at some point in the future.

Travel costs associated with auditions are just too expensive these days.

Perhaps you need to have free or nearly free ads to get it started. People may be reluctant to pay because they don't know how much activity there will be.

Phoenix,

Thanks for the advice and you are absolutely right. This was discussed with management and they have decided to make the classifieds free and charge a small fee for those wishing to purchase optional premium exposure services.

It took about a year for the discussion forums to obtain the traffic and popularity it enjoys today so hopefully the free classifieds won't take as long.

So, we hope members will now take advantage and now post to the classifieds service.
