Renewal of the collective agreement of the
musicians of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal

MAIN WORKING CONDITIONS OF THE MUSICIANS

- Duration of the contract: 46 weeks per year

- Number of hours worked each week: 20 (including 3 hours and
20 minutes of breaks)

- Average annual remuneration: $75 000

- Annual base remuneration: $60 996

- Seniority bonuses: $20 to $100 per week (for 79 out of the 92
musicians who receive it)

- Vacation: an average of six weeks per year, part of the 46 weeks.
21 musicians have 8 weeks per year

- Release services: In addition to the paid vacation weeks, all the
string section is entitled to 8 services off (equivalent to one
week's work), called release services, which effectively constitute
a seventh week of vacation. In addition to their vacation weeks, all
other musicians are entitled to 16 release services (equivalent to
two weeks' work), which constitute two additional weeks of vacation.

- Status: self-employed worker

- Supplementary broadcasting revenues (radio broadcast and others):
around $2 000 per year per musician (without additional work)

- Sick leave: up to 15 weeks per year with full compensation
