The links to are now working. Sorry for this technical glitch; we were off line for one day. Here again then are the sample masterclass videos. Orders are now being taken at the site for the complete set of some 97 videos.

John,

I like the fact that these are available but I have to admit that the sound quality is not very good. I am using Windows Media player. Am I doing anything wrong? Can I adjust the sound quality some how?

Yes, the sound quality in some of these videos is not all that good, though perhaps the most important thing is what is spoken; the information is still very much there, discernable and useful. Alas, many of these videos, as I disclose in the press release, were not professionally shot, so they are what they are. Even so, if you follow them closely, you should be able to hear what is said quite well.

That said, the sound and video quality in all 100 videos varies. Many of the performance videos, for excample, are fine; the Demus videos are professionally shot. And those classes where I teach without students are easy to discern (such as the Rachmaninoff E flat prelude with the complimentary link here). It will depend in part, too, on your speakers, of course. Here is a very good video of my performance of Liszt's Les Jeux d'eaux a la Villa d'este. As you will see and hear, the sound and picture are not too bad:

By the way, here's what one piano teacher in Houston, Constance Dvorsky, had to say about the masterclass videos after purchasing them:

"I've sampled most of the clips you sent me, both on the CDs and the latest to download. All I can say is a most hearty THANK YOU! They are most inspiring, insightful, and highly intelligent in every way. When it is appropriate and helpful, I plan to show some of them to my students on my studio computer. There is a Chopin Society in Houston which has annual festivals and competitions in October, so the sessions on mazurkas and nocturnes will be especially useful to me in preparing my students. I'm excited about having this resource -- you truly have provided a unique opportunity for all of us!"

All the best,

Constance Dvoretzky

Dear John,

I just happened to come across this link and decided to check out the website you listed.

You might be interested to find out that this is not a master class at all. Please check it out to make sure this is what you wanted to send. It certainly has nothing to do with music, and you will probably want to change it.

All the best,
Constance Dvoretzky

Greetings,

It appears that this old link of 4 yrs plus appears to no longer be owned by John Young Bell and it has been removed.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

I wasn't inconvenienced!!! It was nice change from the usual carping, snarkyness and hurt feelings we've seen lately.
