Does anyone know if there is a resource to look up the salaries of European symphony orchestras? (Something in the same vein as the AFM wagechart here in the U.S....)

There are different systems for each country, and in each country there are orchestras that are inside and outside the systems.

Generally, the best pay in Europe is found in Germany, where the Radio Symphony Orchestras and Berlin and Munich Phil are leaders salary-wise.

Another aspect is that in many European cultures, people are very reluctant to talk about how much they earn.

In general - if it is listed as a full time job, you will get paid...you won't get rich....you won't be poor... you will be making a living playing. Also, they usually will say 60% or 30% if it is part time with the percentage relating to how much the job contributes to what they consider a full salary.

Also in "most" cities in Europe, (with the obvious exclusions) the cost of living is less then in the majority of large US cities. Also interest rates tend to be less and which might make it easier to buy a home.

Does anyone know the salaries for the Dresden Staatskapelle?
