Montreal, QC - The Orchestre Métropolitain has been ordered to pay its former music director Joseph Rescigno $290,000, including $50,000 in moral damages and $75,000 for loss of reputation.

Well, I am pretty happy about this. So often anytime, an orchestra or ensemble sees a drop in attendance, they blame the music director for poor programming. Glad to know that sometimes, that person is exonerated. Too bad it hurt is career.

Whether an orchestra or a big corporation, companies must be held accountable for their actions towards their employees. Why is it that if the company wants to let an employee go, they say it is business, not personal reasons for doing so. Yet, when an employee decides to leave, the company tries and makes it personal?
