Hi all-

I wanted to know if anyone's heard back from St. Louis yet about their upcoming viola audition in January. Although the deadline was Oct. 31, I sent in my resume/deposit at the beginning of October, and have yet to even receive an email stating that they received my application. I emailed them a second time and called their hotline number to try to make sure they at least have my application, but I haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone heard back from them? And does anyone know what the specific audition date will be in January?

I emailed my resume to them, and got back a brief reply saying that they received it. I would also really like to know the exact dates for the prelims, but haven't had any reply to a message I left on the audition hotline. Maybe you could try calling the main office number to see what you can find out that way? That's been on my list of things to do, but I just haven't gotten to it yet.

The website now says that semis and finals will be Feb. 9, which is more information than was originally posted.

The response time is horrendous, however I FINALLY got a response. They said by the end of the week the candidates will know the prelim date.

After calling their regular (i.e. not hotline) number and leaving a message, I finally got an email back saying that they had received my resume and that "You will receive more information regarding the audition in the coming weeks."

I've found this to be the most frustrating pre-audition process! I really wish they could settle on a January date, because there are other gigs/teaching jobs/festival auditions in January that I'd like to take but feel like I can't commit to until this is settled...(And I'm sure there are many others facing this dilemma as well.)

If anyone finds out the date, would you mind posting it? Thanks so much!

These are the prelim dates:

The preliminary auditions will be held on Monday, January 12th, 2009; Sunday, January 25th, 2009; Sunday, February 1st, 2009; and Monday, February 2nd, 2009 from 9:30am – 5:00pm each day. Semis and finals are on Feb 9th. Hope this helps!
