I believe that the third chair position was offered to someone from st louis and fourth chair was not offered to anyone.

No, Peter Otto won Associate Concertmaster. He is presently Second Assistant Concertmaster in Saint Louis. They did not fill any other positions.

Thanks... so if I understand correctly, Peter Otto, who was 4th chair in St. Louis, got the third chair job in Cleveland?

Does this leave another position open in Cleveland? Which one?

basically, they have not filled the first assoc. concertmaster position (the position directly under concertmaster). they have filled ellen's position. they have yet to decide the new seating order (as far as i've heard).

When reading these statements that were written by people who believe that they are true, and knowing they are wrong, makes me wonder what ever to believe.....
Peter Otto was offered the job of First Assoc. Concertmaster, in other words, second in command. Ellen's current position is not filled at this time.

Well...it's not so far off...Ms DePasquale's job for the last however many years was 3rd chair, second in command. When Preucil was out last week, Ellen sat concertmaster. Her new position was to be 4th chair.

Mr Otto won 3rd chair, Ms DePasquale's former job. The 4th chair position was not offered to anyone.

It is kind of interesting. Cleveland has been long considered one of the "friendly" orchestras, along the vein of St. Louis or Minnesota. Is this an indication that this is changing, or rather, an affirmation that things are not always what they seem...

i think people are confusing things. the reason the assoc. sat second stand is to be on the top part for divisis and the two asst. sat inside. i will ask my friend in the first violin section tommorow to get the correct info- if mr. otto won the assoc. or the first assoc. job. good night!!!!

ok. talked to my friend. mr. otto won the first assoc. job, not the assoc. concertmaster job as previously mentioned. so the assoc. job (3rd in line) is still open.

wow... didn't realize my question would become such a confusing issue...

I think it's simpler if we forego the titles, since they seem to be different in Cleveland than in many other places and simply refer to chair numbers. 1st, chair, 2nd chair, 3rd chair,.. etc...

Thank yoU!!!!
