Play the audition, go to the concert of the orchestra you just auditioned for, get there early, and ... listen to the principal flute player on stage playing all these wonderful excerpts - again and again, like he will audition some time soon, or something :-)

A brilliant player. A superb orchestra!

Any word on the winner?

Finals aren't until Monday. And yeah, Adam's a pretty special player...

Confirmed. There was no hire. There will be another audition at a future date to be determined. (As mentioned on other threads, we remain seriously backed up on auditions, and our concertmaster seat will be coming open as of next fall. So I don't know when the new audition will be, but there will be one, according to the in-house memo.

By the way, I heard that nobody was advanced out of the prelims at the St. Louis piccolo audition.

I'm not even going to ask if it's true -- I believe it. Roll Eyes

Sam- I know this doesn't have to do with the flute topic, but by chance are there going to be viola auditions in Minn? Didn't someone go to Philly?

Yup, there will be an audition in spring 2009 for assistant principal viola, and possibly a section spot as well.
