Not to distract anyone from the Detroit thread, but there are other flute auditions happening. I believe the finals for the Oregon job were yesterday. Any word from Portland yet? Charles?

No word from my minions as of yet - I'll let you know if there is someone to talk about and if I'm permitted to do so. I hope we did get someone!

I must comment that this was a very well run audition. The ladies running the audition were very nice & helpful, & the committee actually made me feel invited in prelims, & which made me feel like more than just a number Smile I even got to play a little early because I had gotten there earlier than my block, & the pacing seemed well timed between candidates. Semis were still blind & finals were not, & it seemed very fair. Congrats again to Alicia!

Yep, I remember their principal flute audition a couple years back being similarly well-run. Felt I had lots of time both in the warmup room and onstage. The committee really seemed to be looking for the right fit for the job.

Congratulations to Alicia -- she's a wonderful player.
