The PSO has a message board.
Perhaps you can ask there...but they have not responded as yet for either the flute or tuba auditions. The tuba bbs lists a winner, but this is not confirmed.
Skala was a former member of the PSO flute section. Demarre Magil also sat in. They didnt keep Hutchins. Perhaps they are waiting to clone Kincaid. Who knows.

Of course this would have to be confirmed by PSO, but I heard today that they decided not to hire either candidate.
Seems to be all the rage in current audition trends......

Also heard that Pacific Symphony, and Phoenix also did not hire anyone from their auditions as well. But awaiting official verification is that Jennifer Hackett won the Chicago Piccolo audition. Bravo Jennifer!

I have not seen a press release from Pittsburgh to that effect. Nor have they announced the result of the tuba audition.Flute bulletin boards are hard to access or require membership.
So I am curious as to where this result was made available.

No one officially won the Pittsburgh principal flute position. But Damarre was offered the position for one year.

Read in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review today:

Demarre McGill will join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as the acting principal flutist, on leave from his principal position in the San Diego Symphony. He is a graduate of Curtis and Juilliard.
