This is an excerpt where I could use more tension and sustained bow pressure in the loud passages. For instance, in the first three measures, it would be great if you could keep the tension by applying more consistent pressure on the bow especially when you get towards the tip. Sustain through the third measure until you can relax after the downbeat of measure 4. #1 is very good. Make this simple and controlled vibrato. The crescendo leading up to #2 can be much more dramatic and gripping.

The accents in the opening measures are missing. Use the left hand to bring them out. Also, the rhythm is not 100% precise for the tied quarter notes, double dotted eighths and 32nds. In the second half of this excerpt maintain the pp to the end, then make your crescendo gradually. The B leading to the ff C must be detached with a slight separation, not slurred into the C.

Just a few little details…#1, be careful of the rhythm at the beginning – the placement of 32nds seemed a little inconsistent and inaccurate. #2, note *exactly* where the first diminuendo occurs. As you go down in register in measure 3, don’t lose intensity. #3, the accents need to be more intense – more painful! #4, (maybe this is an edition thing), the B natural in measure 12 is separate, not slurred into anything, with a staccato dot. (Based on the new critical collected works edition from DSCH Press). And actually, in this new edition, rehearsal 1 is p, not pp, and the final C in measure 12 is f, not ff.
