Ever been to one of those concerts where everything starts to make sense again? You remember why you got into this music thing in the first place?

I went to one of those last night. Renee Fleming (one of my favorite singers) performed in concert with the Charlotte Symphony. I went expecting to hear her sing a couple of things but this concert was WAY more than I expected. First of all, my favorite piece she sings is the Strauss "Four Last Songs" (if you haven't heard her recording get it). I was thrilled when I saw it was on the program and it was everything I had hoped for and more. Then, she did 4 opera arias (all great) and 3 encores (I went to a symphony concert and a voice recital broke out ). All of it was amazing, and the sense of phrasing and musicality was unreal.

To top it all of the Symphony played Mozart's Symphony no. 35 and the Sinfonia from Aida.

By the time the concert was over (way to soon in my opinion) my wife and I floated out of the hall, and it all made sense again.
