I have a weekly studio class at my school where we talk about different aspects of percussion, ranging from literature to pedagogy. We also have a performance class a couple of times a semester where the students play for the other percussionists. This is sort of an open forum where they all get to critique each other in what they consider to be the most challenging environment they will play in. The students finmd this to be very useful and they get a lot of feedback from it. At the same time it is good to hear the other students making the same type of critiques I make in lessons. It is good for them to hear it from another voice.
