Just had an email from a conductor--a brilliant conductor--who was unaware of the restored Rhapsody in Blue--the definitive edition with over 88 missing measures, accelerandi instead of rallentandi, the original longer ending with different notes for the pianist, and more. It was refreshing to share these details with a musician who had known only the revised edited version we came to know and love for over 70 years. I wonder how many other original versions there are out there! I'd be happy to share the Gershwin--anyone out there feel free to zip an email to me anytime for that piece!
