I am so proud to share the news that after several months, on behalf of my friend and composer Daniel Dorff, he is slated to compose a new piano concerto for me which will be premiered with the Etowah Youth Orchestra conducted by Mike Gagliardo in Alabama, in May 2007, followed in June 2007 with a New York Premiere in Carnegie Hall. Apparently, the EYO had such a success in 2002 in Carnegie that they are returning in 2007. In an effort to promote new music through consortiums amongst the younger orchestras in the US and abroad, I developed this consortium project for youth orchestras and summer festival orchestras (in addition to professional school orchestras)to introduce them to what their professional counterparts do in commissioning new works. It also sparks a bit of excitement amongst their audiences and in their communities.
